JFA To Support Tiptree Volunteers

Following the adoption of the Jammers Supporters Association Charity Policy at the 2022 AGM, we are delighted to announce our first partnership with a local charity

In July 2022, the JFA received an application from a Tiptree based charity, known as the Tiptree Volunteers. The mission of Tiptree Volunteers is to use the power of volunteering to enable older people to make new friends and break out of the cycle of social isolation and loneliness.

The team behind Tiptree Volunteers, mainly ladies look to enable older persons to leave solitude and loneliness behind and make new friends and meet regularly, play games and of course drink lots of tea.

A coffee morning, hosted by Tiptree Volunteers

As part of the events the charity run and following the submission of their application, one of our Committee members, Graham Mann visited one of their fortnightly coffee mornings. Speaking about the session he attended, Graham said “I was amazed that nearly all of the 60+ attendees were at the doors 30 minutes before they were due to start. A wonderful, friendly atmosphere with lots of talking, stories, cakes, bingo and everyone having a really good time.”

You can hear more from Graham and also Clare of Tiptree Volunteers on Wednesday when they will be speaking live on Maldon & Tiptree FC’s Official Radio Station, Chelmer Radio.

Available anywhere and anytime, listeners can find Chelmer Radio on their smart device’s App Store, by visiting http://www.ChelmerRadio.com or by asking your smart speaker to “Play Chelmer Radio”.

In August, the Charity are running a coach trip to the seaside for those who attend and use their services. The Tiptree Volunteers reached out the JFA in search for support in order for the event to happen successfully.

We are delighted to confirm that the JFA, courtesy of the 100 Club proceeds, have donated £250.00 towards the event.

Tony Williams, Chair of the JFA

Commenting on the decision to support the application, JFA Chair Tony Williams (pictured left) added, “I’m very pleased that the JFA Committee voted unanimously to support this initiative as it fits perfectly in to our aims. We are keen to grow the JFA and our member base, whilst at the same point, we want to give something back to both the Community of Tiptree and Maldon.

This donation highlights the real benefit of our monthly lottery, as through the money that has been pledged, we have been able to support this cause and put a smile on the face of a lot of people at a time where it’s probably needed more than ever”.

The JFA Committee would like to place on record it’s thanks to all those who contribute to the monthly lottery on a monthly basis, allowing for this donation to be awarded. It would not be possible without your ongoing support.

We look forward to seeing the event take place and will provide further updates regarding the trip to the seaside in due course.
